Trash and recycling at Ledgemere is collected curbside by the Town of Ashland. Town rules always come first, and the association adds a few rules about storing bins and moving them across the common areas.
Bin timing at a glance
| When | What |
|---|---|
| After 6 PM the night before collection | Bins may be brought out to the town road |
| By 7 AM on collection day | Trash and recycling must be at the curb |
| By 7 PM the day after collection | Bins must be back at your unit |
| Bulk items | May be brought out as early as 6 PM two days before the Town's scheduled pickup |
For your street's collection day and holiday delays, see the Town's Rubbish & Recycling page and Annual Trash & Recycling Chart.
Storing bins
- No trash, bins or totes may be stored outside. Keep them in your garage or unit.
- Exception: homes without a garage may keep recycling bins outside in an inconspicuous spot.
- Never leave trash, debris or bags on the common areas.
What the Town will take
- Trash bags may weigh no more than 50 pounds each. See the Town's Annual Trash & Recycling Chart for current bag and barrel limits.
- The Town will not collect tires, construction or roofing materials, or carpeting.
- Recycling must be clean and empty.
Accepted recycling
- Paper and newspaper, in paper grocery bags or tied bundles
- Cardboard, flattened to no larger than 3 ft × 3 ft
- Plastics #1–#7 (no motor oil or chemical containers)
- Glass food and beverage containers: clear, brown and green only (no drinking glasses, light bulbs, plate glass, mirrors, Pyrex or auto glass)
- Metal food and beverage containers, such as aluminum cans
Town rules can change, and residents are responsible for keeping up with them. The Town's current guidance governs.
Bulk items and mattresses
Please don't leave mattresses or furniture in the woods. Dumping on Ledgemere property is not allowed, and cleanups cost the association money.
- Mattresses and box springs: for residents enrolled in the Town's trash program, the Ashland DPW (20 Ponderosa Road) holds a free drop-off on the first Saturday of each month, 9 AM to noon. Check the Town's Rubbish & Recycling page for current dates.
- Other bulk items: schedule a pickup through the Town's hauler, as described on the Town's Bulk Items page.
- Hazardous waste such as paint, motor oil, batteries and bulbs must never go in the trash. See the Town's DPW page for drop-off options.
Fines
Each violation of the association's trash rules carries a $50 fine, collected like a common-area assessment.
